So a while back this year I visited Salvation Mountain, and if you don’t know what that is, that’s totally okay since not many have heard of this work of art. It was a very wacky, very fun, and very inspirational experience to visit this mountain that was essentially located in the middle of nowhere. Check out the pics and video in this post to see more!
So let me explain to ya’ll what Salvation Mountain is first. An artist by the name of Leonard Knight’s created Salvation Mountain in the lower desert of Southern California, and according to their website, ” Salvation Mountain is Leonard’s tribute to God and his gift to the world with its simple yet powerful message: “God Is Love.”’ The whole place is themed around Jesus, the Lord’s Prayer and the Bible.
I had heard of it in high school and always kind of wanted to see it, and it exceeded my expectations. I did not realize how large the mountain was and the amount of hidden tunnels and caves that were painted over and decorated inside of it. There were lots of people there when we visited as well, and a couple was even doing their maternity photos on the mountain.
The mountain is also showcased in Kesha’s music video for “Prayer”, and the place itself is very meaningful for many. Click here to see the music video.
